Nursing education at Karadeniz Technical University started in 1986 as an Associate Degree Program at KTÜ Trabzon Health Services Vocational School. 79 Health Higher Schools, which were established upon the request of the Ministry of Health, the proposal of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education and the decision of the Council of Ministers published in the Official Gazette No. 22805 dated 02.11.1996, were put into operation by the relevant universities and the Ministry of Health and the Council of Higher Education on 22.11.1996. In accordance with the protocol signed between the Presidency and the decision that nursing education in our country can only be provided at the undergraduate level, Trabzon School of Health was established to provide undergraduate education. It was decided to continue undergraduate education in the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences in line with the decision of the Council of Ministers taken on 01.02.2010. With the decision of the Council of Higher Education dated 01.12.2010 and numbered 43307, it was deemed appropriate to open departments and departments.

As of 2010, graduate programs with thesis in Internal Medicine Nursing and Surgical Diseases Nursing have started in the Department of Nursing under the Karadeniz Technical University Institute of Health Sciences. In the following years, master's programs with thesis started and are still continuing in the Departments of Nursing Principles and Management (2013), Child Health and Diseases Nursing (2014) and Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing (2015).

The doctoral education program in the Department of Nursing was opened with the approval of the Council of Higher Education dated 22.08.2013 and numbered 45369. Within the scope of the Department of Nursing; Doctoral training in Principles of Nursing, Internal Medicine Nursing, Surgical Diseases Nursing, Child Health and Diseases Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing, Nursing Management and Public Health Nursing continues. Postgraduate education programs are carried out by faculty members of the Nursing Department.
