2025-2026 Prep Program Proficiency Exam!

Western Languages and Literature

Dear students,

Welcome to the Department of English Language and Literature, Your New Home!

The Department Curriculum includes a One year Prep Program. If you want to get exempted, you must sit for a Face-to-Face Prep Proficiency Exam.

Who can sit for this exam? 1) The newcomers (2025-2026),  Repeating (2023-2024 & 2024-2025), and Undergraduate Transfer students (If you have not fulfilled the exemption conditions)

The Prep Proficiency Exam Dates:

24 Eylül 2025, 09:00 – 10:15 Grammar 

24 Eylül 2025, 10:30 – 11:45 Reading

24 Eylül 2025, 13:00 – 14:00 Listening

24 Eylül 2025, 14:30 – 15:45 Writing

25 Eylül 2025, 09:00 - Speaking

The Prep Proficiency Exam Contents:

Grammar + Reading: YDS

Listening: Upper-intermediate Listening Questions

Writing: Composing a 5 Paragraph Essay

Speaking: The IELTS Speaking Exam

The Prep Proficiency Exam Venue:

KTU, Faculty of Letters, Block C, Ground Floor, Department of English Language and Literature. (Important: For the exam, please do not refer to School of Foreign Languages, YDYO.

It is not obligatory to attend this exam and you will be a prep class student; however, to learn about your own level and the Department expectations, it is advised to sit for this exam.

There is no need to get registered. It is only necessary to have your TC ID card, Passport, OR Foreign ID Card.

The “Orientation with Newcomers” will be held on 22nd of September at the Department Halls.
