Why Join KTU Global Research Network ?

By joining the KTU Global Research Network, fellows become part of an international academic community connected to one of Türkiye's established research universities. The program offers opportunities to develop joint research with KTU scholars, contribute to high-impact publications, participate in academic events, build international project consortia, and increase scholarly visibility through KTU's institutional platforms.

The program is particularly suitable for researchers who seek to establish long-term collaboration with KTU, explore interdisciplinary research opportunities, and contribute to emerging research areas with regional and global relevance.

International Talent Pool and Future Opportunities

The KTU Global Research Network also serves as an international talent pool and pathway for future academic engagement. While the Non-Resident Fellowship does not constitute paid employment, successful and highly engaged fellows may be considered for future academic, research, visiting scholar, project-based, or externally funded opportunities at KTU.

Such opportunities may include short-term visiting appointments, participation in externally funded projects, project-based research roles, joint research centre activities, independent or collaborative research initiatives, and other academic appointments, subject to institutional needs, available resources, national regulations, and mutual agreement.

Subject to institutional priorities, available funding, and prior approval, KTU may also provide limited publication-related support or reimbursement for scholarly outputs produced within the scope of fellowship activities and carrying KTU affiliation. Any such support shall be evaluated on a case-by-case basis in accordance with institutional policies and does not constitute an automatic entitlement or financial commitment.

Participation in the programme does not guarantee employment, salary, financial compensation, or appointment to a paid position. However, it provides a structured opportunity for fellows and KTU academic units to build familiarity, assess collaboration potential, strengthen international research networks, and establish long-term academic partnerships.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should generally meet the following criteria:

• Hold a PhD degree or equivalent academic qualification relevant to their field of expertise
• Demonstrate the potential to contribute to research activities, academic engagement, or collaboration with KTU researchers and units
• Show alignment with KTU's research priorities, strategic objectives, and internationalization goals
• Possess experience or demonstrated potential in international projects, research networks, interdisciplinary research, or scholarly collaboration
• Commit to academic integrity, publication ethics, responsible research practices, and the appropriate use of institutional affiliation

Nature of Appointment

• Appointments are non-resident, non-salaried, and do not constitute employment with Karadeniz Technical University.
• Fellowship appointments are typically granted for a period of 1 to 3 years and may be renewed based on academic engagement, performance, institutional priorities, and mutual agreement.
• Fellows are not required to reside in Türkiye and may participate remotely unless otherwise agreed for specific activities.
• Subject to the scope of collaboration, prior approval, and the availability of institutional resources, limited research-related support may be considered on a case-by-case basis and does not constitute a financial entitlement or institutional obligation.
• All fellowship activities shall be conducted in accordance with applicable national regulations, institutional policies, and internationally recognized academic and ethical standards.

Expected Contributions

Fellows are expected to contribute to one or more of the following activities:

• Independent or collaborative research activities with relevance to KTU's academic and research priorities
• Collaborative research with KTU faculty members or independent scholarly contributions conducted within the fellowship framework
• Joint publications in internationally indexed journals or individual scholarly outputs carrying appropriate KTU affiliation
• International project proposals, grant applications, or externally funded research initiatives
• Seminars, workshops, webinars, invited lectures, or other academic dissemination activities
• Mentoring, supervision support, or academic engagement with graduate students, where applicable
• Development of international research networks and interdisciplinary collaborations
• Policy briefs, technical reports, edited volumes, public engagement outputs, or other scholarly contributions

Affiliation and Publication Ethics

The use of KTU affiliation shall be limited to scholarly outputs, academic activities, or research initiatives arising directly from documented fellowship activities or substantive academic engagement with KTU researchers, academic units, or approved institutional initiatives. Any use of KTU affiliation remains subject to applicable institutional policies and, where required, prior written approval.

All uses of KTU affiliation, institutional identity, and associated academic representation must comply with applicable national laws and regulations, institutional policies, internationally recognized ethical standards, and relevant international academic norms and professional conduct requirements.

Fellows may not use KTU affiliation, institutional identity, logos, or institutional representation for unrelated publications, grant applications, commercial activities, consultancy work, media representation, or other activities outside the approved scope of fellowship activities without prior written authorization from KTU.

All fellows are expected to comply with internationally recognized standards of publication ethics, authorship, conflict of interest management, data integrity, responsible research conduct, and applicable legal and institutional requirements. Non-compliance may result in review, restriction, or termination of fellowship privileges or affiliation rights.

Application and Review Process

Applications will be reviewed by the Office of the Vice Rector for Research and Development in consultation with relevant academic units. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to an online interview. Final decisions will be based on academic merit, research excellence, alignment with KTU?s strategic priorities, potential for collaboration, and expected contribution to the KTU Global Research Network.
